The Secrets of a Civil War Submarine
How do you think the crew reacts to the Hunley in the Civil War?...
It was a dark and stormy night in the Charleston Harbor. In the evening we were going to attack the Union ships. My name is George Dixon. I was sitting behind Steven Harper. We played cards and slept in some. Finally evening came and it was 4:30 P.M.We were excited and scared at the same time. We were aboard the Hunley when we spotted the the Union ships and we attacked! In the missile launcher was a very, very big missile. We locked the target and BOOM!!! We hit the Union ship and we turned around as quick as we could! But we started to worry thinking, what’s happened to the Hunley we were sinking! Sadly there was no escape. The Hunley was the first ever submarine to sink! To be on the Hunley I had to use lots of Effort, Courage, and patience.
Would you want to be a crew member on the Hunley and save the Charleston Harbor? Why or why not?
