Life of a Civil War soldier
Have you ever wondered about the life of a soldier in the Civil War by the point of view of a Civil War soldier?
My name is Jake Brosowski and I’m 22 years old. I am one of the frontline soldiers in my troop. The Civil War is a horrible war that I am fighting in because a lot of people died. Many friends and family died, so the soldiers are sad and homesick. Well, Robert E. Lee or General Lee tried to take over and break the Union line over and over again. He failed, so the South’s last major invasion of the North was defeated. About 50,000 of our soldiers died at that bloody battle of Gettysburg. The destruction of the Civil War was the worst part of the war because people got injured. Also, many people had to flee their homes because the war forced them to do so. I am hoping I don’t get wounded because I’m on the frontlines. Today, I tried to take my mind off of the dead soldiers and war by playing a game of cards with my fellow soldiers. We actually do things like that around here right now such as play cards, musical instruments, hunting, or reading a book. Something hardly worth eating is hardtack and it taste horrible but it’s are closest thing to actual food. A lot of our soldiers died from the harsh elements of trips. Also a lot of men are starting to die of the weather. When it’s cold some of us die of hypothermia and some of us die of fevers. When it’s hot, many of us even die of heat strokes. we had to take and still a lot of are soldiers died on the battlefield and places like Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie. If we don’t know who’s the South and who’s the North we remember that the South which is us have grey suits and the North have blue suits.
This picture shows us fighting the North and I told you thousands of people died in the Civil War and a lot of us are still dying because the war is still going on.
