Firing on Fort Sumter
My sisters and I came down to Rainbow Row to watch. We so hope the southern troops are going to capture Fort Sumter. We didn't know what to expect. Lots of friends were there. Everyone was dressed like they were going to a garden party. We cheered every time the cannons blasted! It was very exciting. I don't think the ladies realized this was the beginning of a war and not a show put on for their benefit. After all, some of our boys might be killed!

Such exciting times! The excitement is contagious among the crowds. The South is going to defend our rights and beat those Yankees that are threatening our way of life here in the south.

ReplyDeleteSo exciting the South is going to win to the Yankess! The south will try so hard because the Yankees are trying to hurt the life in the south.I was dressed in the fanciest dress.But on the roof is scary but so exciting!
ReplyDeleteI was excited. My friends and I were going to see, hopefully to see the south take over Fort Sumter. My mom made cookies. My brothers had gone to perform. I was so excited, it was about to start. I grabbed a cookie, sat back, and watched the show.
